Our flagship program is a semester-long study abroad experience with U.S. curriculum and faculty hosted at Jiao Tong University. We are located on their downtown campus in the beautiful French quarter within walking distance of great shopping, restaurants, hotels and activities.
The program itself focuses on a combination of learning about China and business education. The China political, economic and cultural curriculum was developed in conjunction with our American university partners and will be taught by American credentialed professors with extensive experience working with U.S.-based students.
Mandarin will be taught by Jiao Tong professors from a curriculum developed in tandem with our U.S. partner universities. Being in China will allow for extensive immersive experiences to cement the learning experience.
All courses will be credit bearing, with transcripts from one or more of our partner universities.
We believe that the activities we offer, most of which will connect in some way to our curriculum, will provide a unique learning opportunity. We will weave these experiences into the modules of the courses that are being taught, ensuring that off-site events reinforce the classroom learning.
In our opinion, every day in China will be an opportunity for the students to learn, if not about the country, then about themselves or subjects they care about.
The Experience
Our program aims to make our students more globally aware and competent. That means that in addition to our rigorous academics, we will also teach about the U.S. and China's larger roles in the world as a whole. We will offer modules on cultural sensitivity, global issues and trends, communications techniques, and much more. It is our intention that when a Petters EducAsian student returns from abroad, they will feel that they have seen many doors open for them.
Summary
Study abroad is a great way for students to appreciate the larger world around them. We will do all in our power to ensure that this experience is rich, rewarding and safe. We expect that our students will come back excited about having been abroad and looking for more international experiences.
